With Minecraft Forum Set to be Archived, What will be the New Goto Place for the Community?

2

The Minecraft Community was created in June 2009 by a community member for the rest of the fans of this popular game. The community was henceforth maintained by its members. Over time, this community became a hub for its daily players with the active members discussing and sharing custom maps, game mods, resource packs, alternative servers among other things.

The Curse Network which hosts the MC forum will be archiving the site and rendering it read-only. Since it was recently disclosed that the forum would be archived, leaving the forums read-only, one is made to think of other options to continue the same fan-frenzy. Where will the game fans go to quench their thirst in game related discussions and discuss modifications?

You can obviously continue on the Twitter and Facebook handles of Minecraft Forum. These should still go on for a long time, but for a person who spends hours on these Forums, it will be difficult adjusting to the social media versions of it. Moreover, the social media versions are barely active and it will take forever to get them up and running. So then we again face the same problem. You will be asking yourself what are some of the best Minecraft Forums.

You might be aware that HearthPwn will soon be archived and made read-only. But they are moving the content and shifting their base to an alternate website. Sadly, this won’t be the case with Minecraft. Once archived, there is no plan for its creators and maintainers to rebuild it somewhere else.

The MC Forum helped its users for a decade helping them decide what the updates meant and gave the users the freedom to discuss and argue about the best methods to mine. With it gone, the gamers need to look for alternatives to help them continue doing the same, especially the ones who only started playing the game.
While such sites and forums are sparse but an educated guess can be made that those forums will gladly accept the influx and the traffic of users continuing to use it as other MC forums’ replacement. Other than the social media platforms that were mentioned above, you can go for other websites like Reddit or MC Gathering. While Reddit is quite well known, MC Gathering specializes in the forum build of Minecraft. These forums will heartily welcome the new and sudden influx of users and it goes without saying that it is the users who give these forums and discussion sites their charm and value.

As a justification for this sudden course of action, the Minecraft Forum said that it could no longer justify the substantial costs and engineering resources it took to manage the forum. They could not even sell the website to a third party as it was built on a proprietary platform.

The Minecraft Forum also explained how atrociously difficult a task it would be to transfer the complete decade’s data to a third party platform for its community. We as users need to understand that even the office was sad the day the announcement was officially made.

While the Forum will be closed for further discussions, it will not affect the current stream of users as the data on the servers will remain unchanged. Assuming you are a server owner, you have nothing to worry about. All the links and the IP addresses, the descriptions will remain unchanged. Here, this also means that while the common user still consumes the same information as before, even you will not be able to make any changes. The only way around here is to move over to some other Minecraft forum for good.

The alternatives to the Minecraft Forum also have a good forum system with easier management of forms and applications. The creators have used the best server systems and have designed these forums beautifully.

Ever since it was released in 2009, Minecraft has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. It only seems just that its fans would be feeling a mix of emotions ranging from rage to sadness to helplessness. While this is a time where the forum runners decided to let it go, there are various other platforms that have ongoing forum discussions on Minecraft. It is not needed to be mentioned, but while the Minecraft Forum was the haven of core gamers it was only one of the best to-go forums around. Other Minecraft forums while being active, were not so well known.

Another option, while going on a tangent would be to move on from Minecraft slowly. It’s not a game that you planned on playing anyway. It’s good to be a part of a community, people discussing one, single commodity and the hacks they employed to get an idea of working around it. But like the very subject, the major chunk of the online Minecraft community is going to be homeless.

And even if the Minecraft Forum was good to stay, you might have questions that the audience over there might not have answered. It could also be that you had an unfortunate experience at the MC forums and you need another option for your Minecraft related issues that need to be addressed. At all these situations and others that were not mentioned, you can go on looking for other Minecraft discussion forums on the web.

All in all, it is unfortunate and sad to see Minecraft Forum die. As a new home to the Minecraft community, one can always look for social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Moreover, better platforms would be alternative Minecraft forums that might have failed to make their stand on the Internet. It could be a good time to infuse life into those portals and try and shift most of the community under one umbrella once again. Hopefully, one of these forums will come into the picture and it will all be alright once again. Until then, keep playing and keep improving. One of these days Google will prompt you and take you directly into the den of some other, better Minecraft forum.
